Welcome to NOBCChE at IU!

Recently, the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE, pronounced “no-be-shay”) approved a student chapter at Indiana University. Now as the world becomes increasingly globalized and smaller, we believe that true success lies in our ability to maneuver our interconnected networks and embrace diversity in our thinking. To this end, our chapter welcomes any individual whose interests and professional goals align with NOBCChE’s mission regardless of academic major or ethnic background. Our NOBCChE chapter was formed in an effort to provide a support network on the Bloomington campus for current undergraduate and graduate students in the physical sciences. However, since there is a serious deficit of minority students in this area, it is also our goal to develop constructive means by which minority recruitment and retention can be supported and enhanced. Knowing that studies in physical sciences can be tough and challenging gives us the impetus to sustain this chapter not only to help and encourage students that are already a part of the field, but also to convince others to consider being a part of what is definitely an exciting era in the sciences!
